LOS ANGELES – September 24, 2015 – The countdown to the 3nd Annual Bakers Will Bake Sale begins! On Sunday, October 11th, Roxana Jullapat will unite the city’s best pastry chefs and bakers to participate in one of the biggest (and baddest) bake sales of the year at the Hollywood Farmers’ Market. The mission: to sell a boatload of baked goods and donate the money to a good cause. This year’s proceeds will benefit the Edible Schoolyard at Larchmont Charter School, which has been a leader in revolutionizing the way children think about food, farming, sustainability, and community.
“This is one of my favorite events that I get to spearhead,” shares Jullapat. “It’s great to get the baking community together for a great cause. And each year we keep growing, last year we raised over $6,000 and hope to top that again this time around.”
Jullapat was inspired to launch Bakers Will Bake in 2013 while volunteering at The Edible Schoolyard at The Larchmont Charter School. She decided to rally her fellow bakers to bake a variety of delicious pastries and desserts, set up shop at the Hollywood Farmers’ Market, and sell a slew of baked goods to raise money and awareness for a good cause. That inaugural team successfully brought in over $3000.00.
With over 20 local bakeries and restaurants participating this year, Bakers Will Bake hopes to triple its proceeds this year, offering a wide variety of both sweet and savory treats alike. This year’s Bakers Will Bake roster includes, Shannon Swindle of Craft LA, Zoe Nathan of Huckleberry, Na Young Ma of Proof Bakery, Christine Moore of Lincoln and Jonathan Graham of Compartes Chocolatier.
The 3rd Annual Bakers Will Bake sale will be stationed in the middle of the Hollywood Farmers’ Market between Ivar Avenue and Selma Avenue, rain or shine from 8am to 1pm.
