Village Bakery on Wilshire Boulevard

It took me a while to get myself to enter Village Bakery because for years it had a big blue B of a health rating in the front window. I've since checked with the Los Angeles Department of Health, whose records show that they were last inspected in September 2008 and they finally got a letter grade of A, with a number score of 91. To my bafflement, their hangul name was transliterated as Pang Kum Tuh, not Bbang Goom Teo.

Caketown Garden Bakery in Koreatown

Both times I visited Caketown Garden, it was in the early morning when the lone person in the shop was busy packing individual pastries.  She quickly left what she was doing as soon as she saw I had picked out my purchases and was ready to pay. The service is  definitely better than at Paris Baguette a few blocks north. And, yes, compared to the kids manning PB, she greeted me much more politely when I came in.

Paris Baguette on Western Avenue

Paris Baguette is an iconic bakeshop chain in South Korea. I was pleasantly surprised to spot its logo of the Eiffel Towel silhouette on Western Avenue in Los Angeles, across from the large HK Supermarket. Brought back a lot of memories.
