Remove Contact Lens Stuck Under Eyelid
I’ve heard of people getting a contact lens stuck under their upper eyelid. Didn’t think it was possible until it happened to me.
My eye was itchy, so I rubbed it. Blinked a few times and my right eye’s vision turned blurry. I assumed the lens had fallen out. Didn’t bother looking for it because it was about time to replace it with a new one anyway.
A few minutes later, I felt something scratching under my eyelid. When I lifted it up to look at it in the mirror, I saw my lens folded in two and stuck to the inner surface of my eyelid. I tried rubbing gently to get it to slide out, but it wouldn’t budge. My hands aren’t steady so I didn’t want to try it with tweezers or even a Q-tip. If I had health insurance, I would have immediately gone to a doctor. Instead I had to figure out how to do it myself. (Didn’t occur to me to go online to search for advice.)
How to remove a contact lens that is
stuck between your eyelid and cornea
1. Bend over the bathroom sink.
2. Lift eyelid in such a way that there’s a big space between eyelid and eyeball.
3. Flush with a lot of tepid water. Resist the urge to blink.
The lens should wash away with the water.

After reading other people’s experiences online, I think I should have first tried turning my eyelid inside out.
