Arbor Day 2009
Arbor Day is on the last Friday of April. This year, it’s April 24.
The holiday started in Nebraska on April 10, 1872. On that one day Nebraskans planted more than a million trees. That is why Nebraska is known the Tree Planters’ State.
Lest you’ve forgotten what an arbor is, the dictionary defines it as “a shady resting place in a garden or park, often made of rustic work or latticework on which plants, such as climbing shrubs or vines, are grown.”
Since we’re on the topic of Arbor Day, here are a few facts about Arbor Mist.
- it blends seasonal wines such as merlot, zinfandel and chardonnay with fruit flavorings
- slogan is “Great Tasting Wine with a Splash of Fruit”
- made by the Arbor Mist Winery in Canandaigua, New York

- was the best-selling wine debut since the 1970s
Now go plant some trees before getting drunk!
