Griffith Observatory
Southern California’s gateway to the cosmos!

The Griffith Observatory sits on the south-facing slope of Mount Hollywood in Los Angeles’ Griffith Park. It commands a view of the Los Angeles Basin, including Downtown Los Angeles to the southeast, Hollywood to the south, and the Pacific Ocean to the southwest.
Unimpeded views of the Hollywood sign, the Pacific Ocean, and Los Angeles’ skyscrapers are visible throughout the hike, but the best views are seen from the Observatory.

Griffith Observatory’s Samuel Oschin Planetarium was closed September 10-12, 2019, for essential repairs and upgrades.
Address: 2800 E Observatory Rd, Los Angeles, CA 90027
