Summer Shakespeare Festival
July 20, 2007
I almost forgot to plug the summer Shakespeare festival downtown. I used to go every year when it was still being held at Pershing Square and I was a ten-minute bus ride away.
Shakespeare Festival/LA is the group and they’ve moved the venue to the plaza of the Cathedral of Our Lady of the Angels. This year they’re presenting A Midsummer Night’s Dream. Three more days: July 20, 21 and 22 — that’s today, tomorrow and Sunday, at 8 PM. In fact, tonight they’re having a sign-language interpreted performance.
They always update the plot and setting of the Bard’s plays, and they’ve transferred A Midsummer Night’s Dream to 1930s Los Angeles.
